Stringer is an iOS app for designing stairs and stair stringers. You enter a total rise and tread run, choose a building code, and the app calculates code-checked riser and tread options, stringer layout marks, and a printable cut sheet. The app is designed to work fully offline so project information can stay on your device.
Information You Enter
You may enter project names, total rise, going (tread run), available run limits, building code selection, construction settings (standard or flush, layout, nosing, tread thickness, dropped stringer), stringer stock size, stair width, stock price for estimates, unit preferences, and notes. This information is used only to calculate stair options and generate stringer layouts and cut sheets inside the app.
Local Storage
Your saved projects, stair dimensions, code and construction settings, calculated options, and generated cut sheets are stored locally on your device. If you remove the app, this locally stored data may be deleted unless it is included in Apple-managed device backups.
Offline Operation
The core workflow for entering dimensions, calculating riser and tread options, previewing the elevation and stringer drawings, checking code compliance, and saving projects does not require an internet connection. We do not operate a customer account system, cloud sync service, or remote project storage service for Stringer.
Exporting and Sharing
When you choose to export, print, or share a cut sheet or stair drawing, the selected content is passed to the iOS sharing, printing, or export option you explicitly invoke. The destination printer, app, or share target may process that information according to its own policies.
Building Code Information
Code references such as IRC, NCC, and Doc K are provided inside the app for general estimating and planning support only. Compliance results shown in the app are estimates. You are responsible for verifying measurements, headroom, and local code and permit requirements with a qualified professional before building.
What We Do Not Sell
We do not sell your personal information. Stringer is not designed around advertising profiles, third-party data brokerage, analytics tracking, or social networking features.
