Tinnitus Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Tinnitus handles masking sound settings, frequency matching choices, hearing profile data, and app preferences on iPhone.

Effective Date: June 21, 2026 | Last Updated: June 21, 2026

Tinnitus is an iOS app for sound masking, frequency matching, hearing profile setup, and personal listening progress. The core app experience is designed to run on your device.

Information You Enter or Create

You may create or adjust masking sound selections, mix mode choices, volume levels, sleep or playback preferences, left-ear and right-ear matched frequencies, notch filter settings, hearing profile results, progress records, and general app settings. This information is used to provide the app's sound, matching, profile, and progress features.

Local Storage

Your app preferences, frequency selections, hearing profile information, and progress data are stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, locally stored app data may be removed unless it is included in Apple-managed device backups.

Offline Operation

The core workflow for playing sounds, adjusting frequency matching, saving notch filter settings, and maintaining a hearing profile does not require a Tinnitus account or a remote profile service. We do not operate a user account system, public profile system, or cloud hearing-record storage service for Tinnitus.

Audio and Device Features

The app may use iOS audio playback features to play masking sounds, test tones, and frequency-matching sounds. Audio is generated or played for the features you choose inside the app. Tinnitus does not need microphone recording for the core workflows described in this policy.

Exporting and Sharing

If the app offers an export, share, backup, or system share-sheet action and you choose to use it, the selected content is passed to the iOS destination that you explicitly select. That destination may process the information according to its own privacy policy.

Health Information Notice

The app may store settings that relate to your listening preferences and hearing profile. These settings are intended to personalize the app experience and are not a medical diagnosis. Tinnitus is not a medical device and does not replace advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

What We Do Not Sell

We do not sell your personal information. Tinnitus is not designed around advertising profiles, third-party data brokerage, social feeds, or public user-generated content.

Permissions

  • Audio playback: used to play masking sounds, test tones, and frequency-matching audio.
  • On-device storage: used to save app settings, matched frequencies, hearing profile entries, and progress records.
  • Notifications: used only if the app offers reminders or timers and you choose to enable them through iOS.
  • Apple-managed backups: controlled through your Apple account and device settings.

Data Retention and Deletion

You can adjust or delete app settings, hearing profile information, and saved progress from within the app where controls are available. You may also remove the app from your device to delete locally stored data, subject to any Apple-managed backups you have enabled.

Children's Privacy

Tinnitus is intended for general iPhone users and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us so we can help review the concern.
