Plywood Face Grade and Part Placement

A geometric layout can fit every rectangle and still be wrong for the material. Plywood face grade, visible-side selection, grain continuity, color, patches, defects, and finish direction determine where important parts can come from the sheet. Part placement should begin with a face map and a visibility hierarchy before yield is optimized. Preserve that map until the visible groups have been labeled and accepted, because the physical relationship is lost once the sheet is broken down.
