Cut-Dimension Drift Sampling Plan
Repeated cuts can begin within tolerance and drift later as a stop moves, debris accumulates, stock changes, a blade heats, or the measurement method changes. A sampling plan defines which dimensions are checked, how often they are checked, what limit stops production, and how suspect parts are contained. It is not a substitute for guarding, safe machine use, or a verified first article; it is the control that keeps an accepted setup accepted through the batch.

Prioritize dimensions that control assembly, reveal, hardware fit, joint engagement, or equality across a visible run. Include a reference edge or squareness check when the process can introduce taper. Cosmetic dimensions with generous trim allowance may need fewer checks, while drawer-box width, paired doors, shelves in one opening, and parts cut from one stop usually deserve tighter observation.
Set the opening and closing checks
Measure the first accepted parts before production count begins and retain their recorded values as the setup baseline. Measure the final parts before the setup is removed. Use a trigger-based interval
Check after a defined quantity and whenever the blade, fence, stop, operator, material batch, support method, or reference face changes. Record observations, not only pass marks
Write the actual measured result, part IDs covered by the interval, measurement tool, unit, target, and acceptance range. A row of check marks cannot reveal gradual movement toward the limit.
